I have been busy doing nothing.  I know sounds weird but its
true, its like I am busy spinning my wheels and getting nothing accomplished.  I dont know if its the weather, motivation or what.
I have a picture that I need to get finished sometime this century, but when I look at it I am never satisfied.  It must be because it
was commissioned.  The lady wanted something specific and I agreed to it.  So let me tell you, that will never happen again, because it puts pressure on me.  There's the its not good enough, the self doubting, the re-doing because its not perfect.  When is anything perfect never.  My mind does not comprehend that.  So
I am here sitting in the studio spinning my wheels.

  1. I love this one. Many artists go through lulls... usually your art takes a bit of a turn after that! I agree with the commission thing. I would never do it..way too much pressure. I had a friend who did a huge requested piece for a realtor..she wanted it for a kids room...then never took it. My friend spent so much time on it and was so frustrated. She also vowed no more commissions. I have done charity pieces that stressed me right out. Hang in there the urge will come back! Go to some Christmas fairs and places that inspire!

  2. A beautiful painting.. I love the chairs infront of her!
Oh yes I know exactly what you mean with that it puts pressure on you.
I enjoy just doing all for me, I not even make birthday cards anymore
just doing art for me to have fun..
    that's what makes me happy!

  3. I love this but I am with you, I had making something when someone asks for it. WAY too much pressure is an understatement. I like this piece a lot though. It is really clever. Hugs-Erika

  4. I never do commissions. Like you said, too much pressure. I work too intuitively to have to worry about whether someone else will like it. Just give yourself some breathing room, take a break from it and I'm sure you'll come back refreshed and ready to create. You're always your own worst critic. Your art is fun and unique and wonderful. Don't be so hard on yourself!

I love love love this piece! Very original.
